I finished this journal spread over the weekend. I was inspired by Mystele’s video “thinking with paint.” If you would like to see the video, click on her blog link over on the sidebar. I started my pages with black gesso first. And rather than drawing the figures and houses with a pencil, I used a brush with black India ink. I got my latest order from Dick Blick last Friday and had to try some of my new paints colors on this piece: green gold, manganese blue and Hansa yellow light. I also used Payne’s grey (or is it gray?). I was going for a bit of whimsey. All in all, I was happy with it when I finished.
I love these images! What a great fantasy world.

ooh, where is she going. What’s in the houses? So many questions are invited. Very nice.

Mary, I love this so much–those colors just pop. Don’t you love what you can find from all of these artists. Sometimes when I feel a little blocked, I just start looking around at all of these art blogs.
