Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Times are tough…

hearts are tired…

people are fed up…

BUT

we still have much to be thankful for in our country.

That’s all I’m going to say because I don’t want to start ranting.  Be blessed and thankful and if you look long enough…you will most likely find someone that’s not doing as well as you.

Be blessed

and

have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends!

finishing a journal…a new journal…more pages from Gas-House McGinty

I didn’t plan on it being so long between posts.  We have been doing some long overdo major cleaning around here.  We are slowly clearing out and recycling some old “stuff” that’s been hanging around here way too long.   We are looking forward to having guests for the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

This page is from my Icon Journal that I am finishing up:

I made this journal for the round robin group I will posting about later. I used the covers from Gas-House McGinty.  The old cover was dark blue.

Here are some more doodle sketches on the pages of Gas-House McGinty:

Five on Friday

My friend Danielle over at A Love Affair With Paper is doing something she calls Five Favs Friday. She wanted to start a Mr. Linky and let others link their favorite places to her blog.  For some reason, she couldn’t get Mr. Linky to work….I know how that is when things won’t cooperate with you 🙂  She found some great links…check them all out. I loved the e-magazine one.  Here are five new (to me) blogs I have recently found:

1.  Accountant by day and wanna-be baker by night-The Bean Counter at the Kitchen Counter.

2.  I would love to try this paint..you decide if you can afford it-Annie Sloan Paints.

3.  She is a living statue-Appels en Peren

4.  Kim has a special love for matchboxes-art in red wagons.

5.  Eden’s drawings and doodles-draw.doodle.decorate.

This journal spread needs some words…I plan to use my mini words stamps.

I also did this face last night, it will end up on a journal page.

…and here I join Sunday Sketches….and should we use old books for art?

Greetings on this first day of November…(1.11.11).   I was over at my friend Janet’s blog and found out about Sunday Sketches over at Blue Chair Diary.  My understanding is that one can submit a sketch all during the week.  My entry is below. By clicking on the Blue Chair link, one can see all the other entries for the week.

Note:  I was too late for Sunday Sketches after all so I was wrong about submitting a sketch thoughout the week.  I can’t link back from Blue Chair on Mr.Linky 😦

I also wanted to address something that was left in a comment on the last post.  As a retired educator, I understand the reaction to “seeing books marked up.”  I always told my young students, you do not write in your books.  Here I am doing that very thing.   Most of the books that I am using to alter are discarded library books.  I have been getting  my old books at yard sales or from the local library sale.  I was using a 1970’s craft book as a journal a year ago.  Someone, in the blog world, a few years back, addressed the issue of using old books to alter, etc.  Hopefully,  someone reading this will remember it and leave a link back to it in a comment.
