Art Journal – Music and Flowers
I love the image of the girl on here…it was on an ad in my Natural Health magazine. I have been health conscious since my late 20’s…and, ahem, that’s been several years ago 🙂 This page also has part of a page from an old music book and a piece from an old ledger. I stenciled on some letters and used a scrap from one of my doodle pages. I have been using Elmer’s Disappearing Purple School Glue and I love it. It’s acid free if you care about that and it sticks things down really well. It’s on sale most places because of back to school sales.
Art Journal – Let the Sun In
Quick journal page today that I finished yesterday. I started with the Sunflower and added the girl I sketched(doodled). I had some number stickers I added to her hair plus the yellow paint. I also stamped with a cardboard roll from bath tissue and some pieces of corrugated cardboard. Then more blue acrylic paint with white added to lighten it.
Graffiti Panel #2
I hope everyone had a great weekend. The month of July is rolling right along, isn’t it? Friday will be the last day of the month. Yesterday I finished the second graffiti panel using some techniques I learned about in Traci Bautista’s online class. I first learned about her from her book: Collage Unleashed. I like the red and turquoise paint used in this piece, along with the lemon yellow and black. These are so much fun to do.
Art Journal – Find Your Center
I finished this page this morning. It didn’t scan well because of all the white. The background is very pale blue and that translates as white when scanned. I tried to add some ink and crayon embellishments to break up the white. I used a blue Sharpie pen that I picked up by accident. I like the blue ink for a change.

Art Journal – Wait
Whatever we do…we are always waiting…for something or someone. It’s not a bad thing, it develops patience…that’s another story! Excuse the sermonizing but it goes with the journal pages I completed yesterday. It’s a good thing we can hit the delete button on here sometimes…I had a nice little pity party type rant going but it’s gone…and I feel so much better. I’m looking at the words…”wait—-It gets better.”
Art Journal – Discover
I worked on a graffiti piece yesterday but it ended up in the trash. I completed two more pages in my multi-media journal. I finished “Discover,” this morning. I sketched the face with pencil. Then I picked up a charcoal pencil and a burnt umber watercolor pencil a went over the pencil lines. I also used a sparse amount of oil pastels. On the page on the left, I used some of my painted phone book scraps. The little girl’s face came from a magazine but since it wasn’t altered, I added the glasses.
It
just
is…
Cereal Box Journal – (7,8,9)
Here are more pages from the first cereal/tea box journal. I have not been able to post them because I had been away for the weekend. I love this first page with the boy and his dog. That was from an old Ideals Magazine. All of these pages have something from an Ideals Magazine. Embellishments are Caran d’Ache and Sharpie pens.
Art Journal – Purple Dream
I plan to do another graffiti panel but I had this page started and wanted to finish it. I have been wanting to try doing something using monochromatic colors. I used three shades of purple plus white and black. I love the deep black that can be made from dark purple and black. This is all acrylic paints. I first sketched the girl with pencil and then went over the page with a white acrylic paint wash. Then I mixed various shades of purple for the rest. The mouth and nose look off to me but….it just is.
