sketchbook & 4×4’s….

“The only question in life is whether or not you are going to answer a hearty “YES!” to your adventure.”  ~Joseph Campbell~

I have been fighting a cold….the worst one I’ve had in years….all better now.  It’s a bright sunny day today and that helps in creating a good mood to get outside or do art.  I’ll most likely choose the latter.  They are predicting a winter storm for tomorrow night with up to 1/2 inch of ice.  I’ve seen different reports and I need to check today and see what the current forecast is now.  Right now the temperature is about 42 degrees.  It seems this is the winter for extremes.  Come on spring…hurry up!!!

I did finish another set of 4x4s.  These are made up of painted collage papers that I embellished with an ultra fine point Sharpie marker.  I’m still enjoying the process of making this series of 4×4 pieces.  These number 45-48 in the series:

I’ve been working in a small sketchbook (4×6 inches) this week.  I like to sketch with Sumi ink and a brush.  That’s how most of these sketches are done but one or two has watercolors mixed in and one has some doodling.  They are kind of wonky but I’m having fun seeing what happens:

I’m glad you’re enjoying this series because I’m loving it! These are great. Love the colors in this set.

I hope the storm isn’t too bad. This has sure been the never-ending winter for most everyone. We finally got some much-needed rain.

Thank you so much Janet. We have been getting lots of wood in the dry just in case we lose our power and have to use our fireplace to keep warm. 🙂

Small journals are the best for those quick infuses of creativity, right? The water bleed one (last) is very cool!

Thanks Hanna! I want to try some more watery inky runs and see what happens 🙂
