patterns everywhere…

I have sewn my book cover together for the sewn class.  I choose to make triangles.  The stitching was fun but I think I prefer stitching fabric.  I am continuing to paint patterns this week.  I have gotten behind on my index card a day but I think I’ll catch up by Friday.  Here’s my pattern book cover. I don’t have any pages stitched in it yet but I’m working on that.

Last week, while I was in the midst of painting patterns, two books I ordered came in the mail from Amazon.  I ordered them because they are full of patterns…great ideas for doodling and all that.  The first book is Chinese Cut-Paper Designs:

001

This book is a Dover Publication printed in the USA.  Here are a few designs from inside the book:

The other new book is:  Fashion Drawings and Illustrations from Harper’s Bazar.  This book shows some of the fashion drawing by Erte. This is also a Dover Publication.  For twelve years, from 1915 to 1926, Erte, a Russian born artist, working in Paris, created beautiful fashion fantasies for Harper’s Bazar magazine. Here is the book cover:

Your journal cover looks great…and it looks like it took a lot of time to make. I doubt if I would have the patience to do something that detailed.

I love your book selections, in fact I have the Erte book. Books like these are always good for inspiration and ideas.

Love your cover! Your sewing is a lot better than mine!!

The books look luscious as well. Can you imagine having the skill and patience to do that cutting in the first book!!
