Postcards

I read Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins last week. I’m reading the second book in the trilogy.  If you are interested in fast-paced action adventures….then these books are a must read for you.  The books are actually written for young teens but people of all ages are reading them.  The movie Hunger Games will be out a week from this Friday.  I hope we can find a theater near us that will be showing the movie.

I finally finished my postcards yesterday for iHanna’s yearly postcard swap .  Last year I made cards with collage and acrylic paints.  I wanted to do something different this time.  The faces and giraffes were drawn with my non-dominant hand using a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen or an IDenti-pen(extra fine).  I used a Sharpie fine marker on most of the floral doodle cards.  I colored those with watercolors and Tombow Brush Pens.

Oh, your postcards look GREAT!! I love the giraffes. Whoever gets one of these postcards will be doing a happy dance!

I haven’t read those books but I’ve heard a lot about them and the movie.

Wow – you draw so much better with your non dominant hand than I do with my main hand 🙂 – I especially love the giraffes

So nice, Mary! The combination of rich, visitant color and your elegant and energetic line work is going to have the recipients of these cards smiling! They are all incredible… I’m especially drawn to that blue-eyed blonde lady in your eight piece… I love all the visual layers… she’s a real looker!

Received my card today! My two year old son pulled it out of my pile of mail and said “this one’s for me!” He loves giraffes. It is now proudly displayed in his room. A wonderful postcard and a work of art! Thank you!

I’ve never thought of drawing with my non-dominant hand. I’ll have to give it a try!!

i’m so glad you like the postcard i sent. it was great knowing at least one of my cards was going to another doodler. i just used a micron pen #8 and a pad of postcards from the craft store. i think they were actually meant for watercolors but i liked the texture and weight. i enjoyed taking these along with me, often working on them during my lunch break at work. after finishing these i started notecards. i like the size.
