Closed and Opened

I did this as an experiment this afternoon.  I started with a piece of a magazine for the background.  To dull the finish, I used various colors of Prismacolor Art Stix.  Then I did a wash of Golden’s Red Iron Oxide acrylic paint.  I wiped some of it off with a paper towel.  The writing was done with a dip pen using white acrylic ink.

    Hey Mary!
I just surfed in from Suzi’s ning site…I had the idea to see if I had any kindred artist spirits near me. I found a few here in AR (I’m in LR) so I thought I’d say HI!! Love your spread in this post–and I don’t know if this would work for you but sometimes I use Nevr-dull (from the auto shop) to dull the finish on my magazine collage stuff. It’s stinky but that goes away and I like the results. Oh, and about your previous post…I’m having a OWOH giveaway on my blog, if you’d like to check in out!
    Your neighbor (well, sorta!),

Sure thing, Tyler…I would be honored if you want to use it. Just mention that Mary at Joyful Ploys website gave you permission to use it. Mention the website address if that would be appropriate. Thanks for the interest.
