Fashionista Class Journal Pages

I have been doodling and adding some inspiration pages to my Strathmore journal.  I’ve been working in it for the “Fashionista” class I’m taking.  This first photo I quickly sketched with pen over watercolor, then I added some more lines with my peat tinted charcoal pencil.  I realized this morning after I’d taken the photos that the poor girl doesn’t have any eyebrows :D

Moleskine-16 &17

I started a page in my other journal but didn’t get finished. I’m getting texts ready to enter Michelle Ward’s crusade for August…time is about to run out.  I did two drawings while we watched the Pillars of the Earth series that ended tonight  on Starz.  This first girl was difficult to draw because she is looking down and her eyes are barely peeking out between her eye lashes…and her mouth…I  erased it three or four times and it still looks  off. I used a woodless pencil #6B.

Moleskine Faces

I started a new Moleskine sketchbook to use mainly to practice drawing faces.  Here’s my first attempt at adding color to my sketches.   I do not have the various shades of colored pencils that Suzi recommends so I had to use what I have.  I am waiting for pencils from Dick Blick. This was also my first experience to use clear gesso and I love the texture I was able to achieve.  I didn’t realize that the skin tones of the two girls are so different until I scanned my journal pages.

More Sketches

I worked on some more sketches today.  After using the Suzi formula on the first one or two, I started doing my own thing.  The sketch showing the face turned to one side was drawn while looking at a picture.  I would like to turn one or two of these into paintings.  This class is turning out to be a great discipline for me…if anyone is wondering about it, I would highly recommend the class.

Sketchbook – Wistful

I was playing around with my new sketchbook.  It’s the same size as the smallest Moleskine (3.5 x 5.5″).  It’s from the hand book journal company.  The label on the journal says:  “Contains 128 pages of heavyweight buff drawing paper with a good tooth.  Great for pen & ink, pencil, and markers.  Accepts light watercolor washes without buckling and, of course, it’s 100% acid-free.”  It also has an elastic closure and a clear envelope inside the back cover.  They also have a larger size, again, just like the Moleskine, approximately 5 x 8 inches.  I bought mine from Dick Blick and the price is $6.59.  It is available in black, red, green or blue.  It’s great for sketching and light watercolor…that’s all I have tried so far.  I drew the first sketch with a woodless Koh-I-Noor woodless pencil 4B, also available at Dick Blick.

These sketches are influenced by Teesha Moore’s website drawings:

Collage – Adventure in the City

This collage was started a few days ago.  I’m not feeling guilty but to tell you the truth, I’ve been hanging out on facebook.  I finished this piece this afternoon.  I started with a base of collaged papers, mainly, telephone book pages that I had altered with paints and stamps.  I also used papers that had some doodling on them.  It was very bright so I painted over that with offwhite paint…I forget the name.  I drew the girl with a graphite pencil and then filled in with watercolor pencils.  At the end, I used a blend of Caran d’Ache crayons.  They seem to be finding their way into everything I do lately.

Eat, Drink and…

Another page in my Moleskine journal.  I used acrylic paint and watercolor pencils.  Shading was done with my new General’s Kimberly Graphite Drawing Kit. It consists of 10 assorted drawing pencils, a sharpener, and an eraser.

Well, now I’ve gone and done it.  I fell while walking our dog Tuesday evening.  I had to go to the doctor yesterday and let her check  my leg out.  Thankfully, my knee cap is still intact.  I won’t bore you with a discourse on how the accident happened.  Anyway, that means I have problems with stairs now.  Here’s another drawing I did this week. Perhaps, I can turn one of these into a painting.   Aren’t noses and mouths difficult to get right?

img I have been battling a horrible cough, cold, sinus infection,  for days now.  I’m doing much better today…think I’m going to live :)   Here’s a sketch I worked on last week and added to this morning.  It has been easy for me to draw because to do anything else would have required me to go downstairs to my art making place.  I hesitate to call it a “studio.”  I am envious of  some online artists who have  fabulous and wonderful studios.  Anyway, my art making place is great and I can “art” away to my heart’s content.

My hubby and I have been catching up on all the seasons of the TV series LOST.  We love it and are waiting anxiously for season four to get here.  We started watching the series a week before Thanksgiving and finished season three yesterday. Maybe Four will be in the mail today.

Girl Pencil Sketch

I wanted to practice putting another photo on here this morning. It seems to me that Vista requires more steps to do anything than I noticed with XP. I like my  new printer/scanner combo. It’s a Canon Pixma MP470. I drew this with a Bic mechanical pencil late last night when I couldn’t sleep.
